No. The cop stories are hot right now. It'll die down in time. What should City-Data do, start a separate forum for every news story that soars in popularity?

Depends in part on how easy it is to start and close forums. Nothing wrong with opening a new one whenever some "theme" in current events starts to dominate the dialogue.
Absolutely not. The police play a significant role in a lot of the current events. Police related events shouldn't be shelved away 'somewhere else' just because people are tired of seeing them mentioned.
If anything, that should make people think. There's clearly a problem with the police force in this country. That's something that really is in need of people's attention.
I say yes. We need a central place from which to view all those fascinating threads about cops, such as recent threads re cops biting people in the testicles or buying them a nice dinner. IT'S ON!
Might end up with another forum all about bit testicles.
No; I doubt many police would comment on the forum. It be like reading only the Christian hater rants on Christian forum with no Christians discussions its intended for.
I created this because it's getting harder and harder each day to come to this forum and find any current events that aren't police related. And those that aren't get buried very quickly.
Nah, it's current events. And it gives the handful of posters here who seem to do nothing but look up police abuse cases every single day a place to vent and an audience.
