As for this white-appreciation day, I think it's okay considering it's just one day. There are discounts for other groups of people in many other businesses and if there were appreciation days for other races, I'm sure the backlash wouldn't be as big, but since whites are getting discounts, everyone has to throw a tantrum. I don't see the big freaking deal here. Grow a ball or two and tone down your political correctness.

I think they should offer discounts however they please.. they are not refusing to give service to anyone. People get so offended and hyped up over anything and everything.

You forgot to add "IMO". Otherwise, I don't remember when we had the election to nominate you to represent or speak for all non-blacks.

Could we really tell them, "no you have to pay the full price"?

As for White Appreciation Day, it is nice to be appreciated, but I don't think the discount is needed. I don't recall any businesses giving discounts to blacks during Black History Month.

HAHA!! I always thought about this too! But too bad for us counter peeps we were the only one in the city that didn't have a "senior discount" on coffee and would frequently get berated by seniors. As if the counter staff who got minimum wage had any "pull" in this area.

Along those lines, I would love to troll this restaurant by sending Mike Tyson there and having him demand a white man appreciation discount. See if these owners would have the guts to say . . . "but you're black". Wasn't that in one of the Lethal Weapon movies, the one with South Africans. That would be great.

There's a doughnut shop in my neighborhood and whenever I drive by it seems like they're having an obese appreciation day.

What about St. Patrick's Day? That's 1 celebration of white culture. Halloween is another. Might have been more palatable to offer the discount to patrons regardless of race.
