Yes. I think I pointed out that there are quite a few parallels between this version of Christianity and extremist Islam. Although I'm pretty sure the Duggars aren't for suicide bombing, cutting off hands or executing gay people.
No, clearly they're not. Nor for female genital mutilation or honor killing women who have sex outside of marriage. But the notions are there--that women shouldn't/don't enjoy sex and that they're responsible if a man forces them to have sex. And they do paint gay people as very "other" and dangerous.
Like I said, it's a continuum of beliefs and the Duggars are somewhat closer to religious extremism than more mainstream religious people.
What struck me about the article were the similarities between the Gothard cult and beliefs in other extreme religious communities, such as women covering up so as not to tempt men, and women being blamed if men are tempted. The author of the article didn't say women were physically punished if they were sexually assaulted like they are in some cultures where they can be murdered if they are raped, but I see the putting the blame on women as being on the same continuum. Also, when she said that women are not supposed to have sex drives, it reminded me of female genital mutilation which is done so that they absolutely will not have a sex drive.
Yes!!! Not only that, but the lack of education for the women, women having to defer to their father or husband no matter what, the semi-arranged marriages, the chaperons... It is more than a little scary. What's scary is that people don't seem to see the parallels, or don't care.

If all the women quit the work force tomorrow and went on strike for a month the efficiency would actually improve. Women have become 50% of the workforce through government diktat, not by outcompeting men.

Some Women that I know are mathematicians, flight simulator programmers, astronomers, engineers, authors, weapons specialists, and physicians.
I don't see any counter-arguments to my points. Just personal attacks, which are against the rules.
No counter argument needed. Anyone not living under a rock knows that nothing you wrote is true. My office is half women. It would come to a grinding halt without us. There are intelligent educated women in positions of power all over the world. What really needs to be said?
