I have no idea why he didn't pull over and call 911. I read on another site that they don't have a cell phone, but he certainly passed plenty of businesses (gas stations, etc) where he could have had someone place a call. Instead, they've now got an obviously distracted dad driving around an unrestrained mom and baby. Even a minor fender bender or just slamming on the brakes could have been catastrophic in that situation. (And they didn't have a cell phone? They had a more than 45 minute drive to the hospital, and didn't even get a cheapo pre-paid phone? Thank goodness there were no serious issues)
I will give him credit for remaining so calm though.
Yeah, I'm not sure why they didn't have a cell phone during such a time.
To dad's credit, mom asked him to keep driving. I'm sure she was hoping she could wait to deliver at the hospital. Also, I'm sure she wanted him to keep driving in case the baby needed immediate medical attention.
I kind of wonder how far the hospital (or birthing center) was. I'm thinking it must have been close, since they'd already been driving for 45 mins!

Because they wanted their 15 minutes of fame.
It's sad today that people just can't live their lives and be in the moment. Everything has to be online.
And yes he should have pulled over, but than no video.
"We did it!" I would have punched him in the face. No, "WE" didn't do it, "I" did it while YOU kept driving. At the least, he could have pulled over. She said not to, but if the baby is literally coming out of her, and he is both filming and helping her remove her pants, he should have pulled over and helped her. Then he could have been able to say "We did it!" more accurately.
I know it's hard to judge unless you're in the moment. Maybe calling 911 wasn't an option for some reason, but at the least he really should have pulled over. He was filming, using one hand to help her, reacting to the situation, and driving at the same time. He is the definition of distracted driving. For all their safety, he should have stopped the car. At that point, getting to the hospital on time really doesn't matter anyway.
Saw this on fb, read the birthing center 2hrs away.
If thats true, and they were only 45 mins in, I would have said screw the birthing center, pulled over, if no cell phone, flagged someone else down or found a business nearby and had them call for an ambulance to go to the nearest hospital. What is the point of driving another hour and fifteen minutes to go to the birthing center when the baby's already out? She didn't even have him covered, he probably needed medical attention ASAP to get him warm and cut the cord.
Seriously, again I know it's hard to judge, but to me it seems a few irresponsible decisions were made - starting with the birthing center being 2 hours away and this being their third baby in three years (read an article that said they had a 2 and 1 year old).
