In Zimbabwe they love it when people come spend money to thin out the lion population. Over there lions eat people. Where is the outcry about an animal killing or maiming a person? Why not use that energy to put a stop to the senseless killings happening here in the USA every day in the killing chambers that we call Planned Parenthood.
that will not happen to me- I do don't kill for pictures - the man did this to himself- stop being in denial- I feel sorry for wife and kids, but he made a bad -decision. DID HE consider them? NO- never thought in a 3rd world country get caught and after all not the US, so what they gonna do? - He safe right? Media has proven more than once now-- the world's eyes are on you - even in the jungle.
why is he not over there talking to the leaders and explain himself if he is innocent??? Go see you accusers, clear your name. and I researched it - a lion kill is at best $12,000-- not $50K he is not a gullible stupid to pay so much for just a regular kill. he was a good 1 1/2 hr. away from location- of this pride's protected area- not a 5 min ride!
I second this. The bastard in all likelihood is not ignorant to his choice of prey in this hunt. He is an experienced hunt player- the kind who get his kicks by indulge in killings to satisfy some of his lame ego. One can imagine the desire to triumph his hunting experience, would be seeking out an icon lion to strike off from his bucket list.
You call destroying his professional business and ending the employment of his staff and forcing him out of his home for fear of the lives of him and his family okay, but I don't think so. People's livelihoods and physical safety shouldn't be destroyed before he's even convicted of a crime.

The local lodges made $10,000 a day from tourists wanting pics with and of Cecil. This was not just a lion in the wild. This was a lion that brought in a lot of revenue, was on protected land, and had been wearing a collar as part of a research study by Oxford since 1999.

He hasn't been convicted and there is some question about whether he was lead astray by his guides, but go ahead and destroy his life anyway. I can't make people understand my point because you guys are not being reasonable. The only way you will understand is if it happens to you, and that's very possible in today's digital world.

It is called justice and karma, the scumbag brought this all on himself. He should be extradited to Zimbabwe to face trial and after serving his time in one of their prisons, he can come home and ask to be forgiven. Actions have consequences.
