What WayneCounty said. This is one thing that I do not want the US to be first in.

Well as pointed out by another poster, you're actually at 111 out of 200 but of course that includes places that are the worst chit-holes on the planet but, hey, you're not first or worst, unless you want to talk about first world modern civilized nations, then you're in a class all your own.

Click the multiquote button (to the right of QUOTE at the bottom of each post), then go to the thread you want, and when you reply, you'll be asked if you'd like to include the quote from the other thread. Hope that helps.

Perhaps reduced selectivity and greater "diversity" of the student body? But that would be racist, or discriminatory against the disabled, to argue.

I repped this, though the transgender studies major may be as rigorous as any.

Consideing that about one-quarter of the population is in school everyday, maybe we shouldn't be so sursprised. And considering that defenseless people make for easy targets, maybe we shouldn't be surprised that trigger-happy people feel so unihibited there.

These students are always the first in their family to attend college..

It's only fall, don't be surprise, it makes the news again.

Young men have been fighting, in and out of school since forever, basically. I don't care much about that, having survived that stage of life intact. What sucks now is that the NRA/gun nut types want all of us to believe that a gun is "protection" or some sort of democratic "equalizer" that will save a lamo-o or two from an arse whooping.
But in reality, what happens is that hotheads, marginal loser virgins, drunk fratboys, autistic gun enthusiasts, and other overactive young men grab the nearest gun (more and more, their own) and shoot others. That's not cool, it's not just, and it's not helped by the presence of MORE guns. More guns equal more shootings. Young men, especially, can't seem to have them without using them sooner or later. There are exceptions of course, but not nearly enough. We have the gun lobby to blame for insisting that a gun is the right and prerogative of every young person, regardless of need, vocation or duty.

What? How about more security at schools and more gun regulations in general.
