That's a lot of snacks. They brought in $340 million in 2014 and kept 42% which is $68 million dollars they kept for themselves! That is absurd.

I thought Trace Adkins was walking with a gimp; probably because of sitting on that wad of cash all the time

I have gotten a ton of reps for this and thank you, but I really feel people should start spreading the word on this crap. If you are volunteering at some so-called charity and the CEO is bringing down some crazy salary like $470K a year, I think you need to quit and find some person in your region in need. We really don't need these big companies and their money suck in our country. Just be a good neighbor and go local!

If you have a large enough organization and you run lots of charity events, you're going to have a large budget for snacks, drinks, and other incidentals, but one would only hope that those snacks and such are there to support the cause. For example- snacks at a charity event where there are lots of people in attendance would cost thousands of dollars, but would be a good thing. Or, snacks at an office full of volunteers. Or, snacks at an office full of employees who accept below-market wages because they are working at a charity. All of these things are fine. But snacks at an office where people are already paid lavishly, you really begin to wonder.
Having worked in non-profit, I can say that appropriate practice is to only provide what you (the organization) can afford to provide. I spent a large portion of my time driving around town soliciting donations so that we could provide snacks. We didn't blow our budgets on food.

Wow. This is disheartening. I got involved in WWP a couple of years ago when my neighbors were heavy into raising money for them.

The real issue is.

What the hell kind of country like the US exists that necessitates organizations like this when:

The same government that sent the soldiers off to war where they became wounded warriors should in fact be paying for everything they need when they return home with life changing injuries.

When you find out it was spent on snacks and parties this really makes it worse. Not as if they handed out too much to the wounded vets.......plus why do they think they deserve to be entertained?

It is. There are some fantastic charities out there, but you have to do your homework when deciding where to send your hard earned dollars.
