I have some doubts on the "Islamic Terrorist" angle. Middle Easterners are generally much more tolerant of gays.
I would be more inclined to believe either a independent/solo homophobic or religious fanatic/psychopath. Even if the religion was "Muslim" it doesn't have to be terrorism in the international sense. I suspect just a wayward individual with skewed morality, guns, and a plan.

Wut? You get sentenced to death for homosexuality in several Middle Eastern nations. They throw people off of rooftops for that. Just because a bunch of dudes are banging on the sly doesnt mean its tolerated out in the open.
Does anyone else here open the news early in the morning and cringe each time this happens? I do.
Well, yes, but more because there are those who will use it for their own agendas and that we won't get any real news, either about this or other things, because the news will wring every bit of attention they can out of it.
As of 8:50AM ET, not a single report says anything about the attacker other than he was male and it was domestic terrorism. No race, no religion, no motivation. Anyone speculating is doing just that: speculating.
Could it be Islamic terrorism? Sure. But as someone who is currently getting *tons* of threats on Twitter by self-identifying white people simply for identifying myself as Jewish (this is a thing, by the way), it's impossible to ignore the rising tide of what is called the "alt-right" in America today. I remember the Atlanta lesbian bar bombing from childhood living fairly close by - there is more than enough hate in this world to go around.
Its a rough thing always hopeful in the morning for a great day, an afternoon with a looking forward and then these simply awful and more events. Since San Bernadino (I worked close by there) we have been getting serious about our goal to move out of an urban area. It's just to risky in my view.
Heaven help the innocent.
