A video of the incident, which took place on the beaches of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, shows a group of men, including lifeguards from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, run into shallow water with ropes and a small fishing net to capture the blue shark. They then tie it up on the beach, placing a life buoy around its head and mouth.

Shark dies after being dragged out of the ocean for 'selfie' - 9news.com.au

Not sure what to think about this (never cared for predators like sharks, lions and tigers). The baby dolphin incident made me mad though.

Wouldn't it have been ironic if -while they were absorbed in doing that - a giant alligator snuck up behind them, dragged them back into the water, and devoured them?

Really no shock here. Just proves my theory that a good part of the world has been narcissist.

Not sure why I found this incident so disturbing, but I did. Perhaps it was the unfairness and meanness and total lack of respect for the living creature. It was more like torture. Not sport for food or eliminating a predator that was doing harm to someone. Just sounds like intentional killing and sadism.

A fish was killed. Let's lower the flags to half staff for a week.

Regardless of what you think of Sharks it was still a living thing and people killing it for some idiotic selfie pics is revolting.

I agree. It was an unnecessary death to a live animal. I'm not against fishing or hunting as they eat what they kill, but to kill something for selfie really pissed me off.

I hope they all die as painfully as that shark did.
