Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but personally i see no attraction. Grown men (and woman) chasing around imaginary beings in a game that has no winning or no end seems ridiculous to me. If your like 12 and under i see the appeal (i used to love pokemon at this age) but not at 25/30-.

If you see no attraction, then don't play. See how easy that is?
I probably spend a few hours a day playing at the moment which my daughter loves as it means we go for lots of bike rides and spend a lot of time hanging around at fountains (pokestops) that she likes to play at. Tomorrow I have an appointment at the next town over, I'll get a lift there a couple of hours early with my OH before he goes to work and I'll hang out at the library and catch some while doing a bit of reading.
Today I plan to walk to a local park on my lunch break to collect pokemon. I get an hour, so after eating I will have about 40 minutes. Hopefully, I will get a new one. (I have 33 different kinds now).
After work this evening, the SO and I plan to go to our local mall. It seems there are 3 pokestops inside and 1 outside. It is supposed to be 105 today, so hunting pokemon inside an air-conditioned mall seems like a good plan. And it's a new spot, perhaps we will find some different species. We will probably spend an hour or two, depending on how much luck we have.
I'm having a lot of fun. If some random stranger is disgruntled about that, oh well.
That's my point. Besides getting a lot of exercise, you are spending quality time together. Last night, two of my grandsons, one's gf and their 8 month old went "hunting". We had a blast!! And we all loved getting to spend time together, which doesn't happen often due to their work schedules. And it gave me some "spoil the baby" time also.
I've finally been able to stack enough Pidgeys, Caterpies, and Weedles to use up 30 minutes of a lucky egg. Time to get 60,000 XP! I'm level 15 now. Hopefully I'll hit 18.
Just don't try to mess with Pokemon Go players in my hometown. Attempted robbers: one shot and one stabbed in two separate incidents. Do you get extra points when you bag a robber?

My best friend's husband plays Pokemon Go. A highly-paid private consultant (think 1%), he's one of the best-educated, physically fit, and well-rounded people I know. He's also in his early sixties. Yesterday I joined my youngest as he was walking a neighbor's dog, and we ran into my friend's husband playing the game and walking his own dog. He does it to relax, and knowing how stressful his career has proven to be, I support him completely. How many people spend the hours between eight and eleven each night lazing on the couch watching prime time TV? I'd say playing Pokemon Go is a step up.
Oh, for goodness sake! How many hours do you and I and countless others spend on C-D? He plays while he's walking his dog. I suppose he could be practicing mindfulness, but he finds the game relaxing. And after a twelve-hour workday, a physically demanding workout (seriously, this man gives twenty-year-olds a run for their money), and dinner with his wife every night, I'm certainly not going to begrudge him an hour of playing Pokemon Go a couple times a week or even every night if that relaxes him.
