Yuck, seems like flying has gotten worse overall, all around.

A diamond medallion Delta passenger had a “dehumanizing” experience when forced to either sit in feces or miss his flight.

Matthew Meehan was on the last flight from Atlanta to Miami on Nov. 1, when he realized the plane hadn’t been cleaned properly. But what he thought would be just another stinky flight turned out to be much worse.

I'm not understanding how the passenger didn't see all that before sitting in it. He said even his bare ankles were covered in feces, and that photo shows it all over the back of his shoe. How do you not see that smeared all over the airline seat and floor?

Have you flown? Generally you're jammed in between people going to down the aisle to your seat and you usually are just trying to plop down and get out of the way; you get situated after you're out of the aisle. I can easily see how someone could just swing into the row and sit down without noticing first. Wth expects that they may be sitting in some fake service dog's nasty diarrhea? I hope he does sue them. That was inexcusable.

Sometimes, you read a story that makes you shake your head in true disbelief.

I'm struggling to believe this. I believe the whole part about there being feces there, but a customer service agent saying "what do you want me to do about it?" is a little hard to believe. Did he make it clear to the agent that he was not complaining about a cleaned up encounter - that the feces was in fact still there?

Maybe though.

It wouldn't matter. They forced him to sit in that seat.

i had a similar experience. This was on Delta. I had my seat and sat down and next thing I knew I felt liquid on the seat of my pants. I jumped up quickly but it had soaked the back of my pants. I called for the Flight attendant and she called the ground crew to bring another seat bottom. The ground crew was fast and they gave me a towel to sit on to help dry my pants as it was too late for me to change clothes and clean up. I had to fly to Reno NV from FLL. It was a long day needless to say. I do run my hand over the seat now. I don’t want a repeat. The good thing is that now, most of the seats are leather and they do wipe off unlike the cloth seats.

With all due respect, I wouldn't call sitting in some liquid (maybe someone's spilled drink?) similar to getting diarrhea on your skin and clothing and shoes and having the customer service rep rudely ask you what you wanted them to do about it.

It seems like it would be a good idea for airlines to have on board a variety of types of diapers available in sizes that would fit adults, animals, children, etc.

It would seem reasonable that those who have diarrhea or travel with a child or animal that could have diarrhea (and YUCK to that), would prepare ahead of time and also have extra diapers with them; however, if the flight is a long one and something develops along the route, it could come as a sudden and upsetting surprise.

Therefore, diapers as emergency supplies should be stocked by all airlines.
