What stood out to me in this sobering account was that the perp. had made bail in multiple previous cases involving juveniles.
Child molesters can't be fixed. Why on earth was this creep allowed to post bail??
That website needs to be shut down asap. Perhaps whoever operates it will at least tighten up restrictions, though it's highly unlikely that any pedophile would be truthful re age, etc.
Not victim-blaming in the least, but there have been far too many tragic cases involving lonely kids meeting someone online, then in real life, followed by abduction, rape, and quite frequently, murder. We have to do a better job of teaching children to be on their guard and to never reveal their identity or location to anyone online whom they do not know in real life (and real-life acquaintances already know location and i.d.).
I am thankful this case turned out as it did - but the harm done by this awful experience will linger with the victim for a long time, unless she receives careful counseling and unconditional love and understanding from her family, friends, teachers, and neighbors. I wish her well.

The problem is 14 year olds think they know everything. Even facebook is a problem. A kid posts a photo from his softball team, posts "getting ready to go play the Tigers at Smith field", and a perp knows what they look like, where they will be, etc. Even gaming platforms, my great-nephews sit there for hours with earphones talking to complete strangers, who knows who they are?
How in the hell did she get access to that site on a school issued laptop? That school district needs to re-evacuate its security software.
Got THAT right! And schools should rigorously monitor the students' devices, including unannounced random spot-checks, where a student must surrender his or her device (including phones) to a dean or other official to see that it is being used for school purposes only.

I guarantee some parent or many would be suing if they did that. Unlawful search or something. When I worked in a school district, a middle schooler got detention for getting up and talking to people at lunch when the rules were to get your lunch and stay seated. Her father tried to sue for infringing on her right to peaceably assemble, lol.
I have a couple of kids that were great at getting around whatever electronics system is in place. Parents of their friends have had similar problems. They borrow a friends phone and create a hotspot or cob together some electronics and create another system or somehow spoof the system. It doesn't help that the schools require the kids to use electronic devices. Try taking away a device when it is needed for homework.
