Are you serious? There are literally 100s of reasons. Bad battery. Valves not working right. Short-circuit.

If it ain't up it ain't coming up.

Bathyscapes and submersibles aren't the same thing. Submersibles do have a crush depth but it doesn't matter. Unless there was a warning of systems failure, they wouldn't even know they died.

I seriously doubt it was, "There's the Titanic 1,000 feet below us!" That thing got up close and personal with the Titanic or there wouldn't be any point paying $250,000, so crush-depth isn't an issue.

It does add 100s of problems to the list of 100s of problems.

Those people are going to want to get intimate with the Titanic, so it might have collided, or backed into something and damaged the propellers or caused some other problem.

They could probably recover the submersible, but it'll take a few weeks. They would die of suffocation before that.

As I understand, the crew has to take certain proactive steps to initiate an emergency ballast tank blow in order for that to occur. I'm not sure of the engineering and layout of this submersible, but hopefully that is a possibility. I'm doubtful that this happened, though, as the crew would be able to use emergency locator signals to pinpoint searchers to their location. If they are searching on the surface, I fear that they are searching for some sort of a debris field from a destroyed submersible

Here is a short video showing the inside of the submersible and all its features - including a toilet -

I'm reading tweets from the reporter who went on this submersible last year and wrote this article. He says there are seven different ballast systems to bring it to the surface. It should take three hours to come back up. He says the only two possibilities are it got entangled in a ghost net (abandoned fishing net, miles long), or it got a leak. He says even if they lose all power, and the hydraulics go out, they should be able to rise to the surface.

I can see "things happening" and the sub having problems, but the fact that it's LOST seems very bizarre to me. But i'm not an expert.

I feel like the whole thing is going to give me nitemares though as i have terrible claustrophobia. The poor people inside are having it a lot worse though, i'm sure.

I'm so curious to hear what happened.

Humans never learn do we? “Come pay a ton of money to ride in my high tech submersible to see the fabled unsinkable ship 12,000 feet under water!” RIP.

Why do we keep sending submersibles down to Titanic?

It is a mass gravesite. Let whatever can live down there feed on the ship. Leave those people to rest in peace.

Doesn't sound good at all.

Prayers for all those on board, and may God have mercy on their souls.

True. I don't like the idea of tourism especially.
