Today was pretty much a repeat of yesterday, with another walk along the beach at Canaveral National Seashore. Soft sand and a sharply sloped beach makes for quite a hike.
I wish I lived in a area where it is warm most of the year. I would love to walk to everything. When we take a vacation to the jersey shore in the summer, we park the car and that is where it stays until we go home. We walk or ride our bikes. I wish I had more than just the summer here in NJ to do that. Oh well, anyway I taught my hour class today, it was half cardio and half strength training. Have a great weekend.
Good evening everyone, late as usual. Walked for at least 2 miles today (both of us were ready to hit the driveway when we finally got here). Beautiful day today in NC, the fruit trees are in full bloom and all of the other trees are beginning to bud out. It smells like spring here!
I'm in Long Beach, CA. It helps I live 4 blocks from work and 2 blocks from the market. I also walk home for lunch and back to work. So, I do that trip 4 times a day. I've met many people on my "trips" - the majority are walking dogs. That's a good way to meet people - get a dog that will walk you!!
Also, I'm walking distance to the water, shops, cafes, etc. Never dull here. And with the parking situation, you save time by walking
Paula Lynn, you're just up the coast from me. Nice to know others like to get around town car-free using foot or pedal power! I luv LB too, I like to have lunch at Modica's deli on Ocean Ave and walk around that area. Also like Belmont Shore and Naples for walking around. My great grandparents moved to LB from New Hampshire in the late 1890s, they lived at 5th + Lime. My great grandpa built lots of houses in that part of town 100 years ago, most homes are still there but pretty run down these days.
Back on topic, had a nice 15 mile bike ride home in the late afternoon sun today. This week's bike miles were about 150, so tomorrow I"ll stay off the bike and go for a 6 or 7 mile trail run in the wilderness park just up the street from my place. If it's clear out I'll try to remember to wear a ***** pack and bring a camera and provide a photo tour. Will figure out how to post a few photos, not on the order of Cosmic's grand photo tour of Oil City PA but it'll give you a glimpse of a typical "recycled outdoor adventure".
I just did my 100 ab crunches! I hope my abs start getting tighter here soon!
