Our kitchen pipes have been frozen since sometime Tuesday night, plus we have no hot water anywhere in the house (water comes out of all other faucets in house--NO water in kitchen).

I've turned the heat up in the house to sweltering (ugh) and I've had 2 space heaters going in the water heater closet in the garage, all to no avail. I've also wrapped any pipes going to water heater that felt cold (there are some pipes that are warm). All my outside faucets have been wrapped for at least 2 weeks.

What should my next step be? Just wait around for water to start pouring out of everywhere?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Last night on the news they were even saying to use a hair dryer on the pipes under the sink. Don't know if that works or not.

Have you called a plumber?

I already tried the blow dryer trick. It doesn't appear to be frozen right underneath the sink (which is located in the "middle" of the kitchen).

Haven't called a plumber--that's my last resort. I'm not sure what they could do anyway---blow torch to the outside pipes? LOL

your outside plumbing must be frozen under ground.

keep your kitchen HOT faucet and others open to allow water to trickle out as it thaws

not sure what to do about the water heater but they can freeze up--maybe the intake valve where cold water comes in--
there is some type of pressure relief valve I think

need plumber for that--would see if you can get one out tomorrow--it will be somewhat warmer even if there is light snow
they can unthaw water heaters if that is the problem but if water is frozen under the slab you can't deal with that really

Sometimes they will thaw and they won't burst --but be prepared to turn off the water quickly if it happens...

and that means at the street meter--
most people don't have the right kind of "key" to do that
and if you try it when the metal is frozen you can really do some damage too I think
