Could someone tell me where the best apts are in the LAKEWOOD AREA?I am looking in several areas of DALLAS mostly the east side. Must be family friendly! Just looking for a neighborhood that will be a good place to start. I have not found a job yet. Must be affordable. Seeking work within northeast, Carollton, Plano, Richardson areas.

Are schools important? (public) If so, what grades?

These are between J. L. Long Middle/Woodrow Wilson High campus and Lakewood Country Club golf course:

Lakewood on the Trail - Urban Living in a Lakeside Community | Lakewood Dallas Apartments (the Santa Fe Trail runs the length of the south side, hence the name of the complex - which was built in the late 1980s) -- I'm seeing rents range from $800 to $1700 -- however, it's possible to get a duplex or even a house for that amount, you just have to do a lot of looking and driving the streets.

A lot of stuff in East Dallas is just listed by sticking a sign in the yard. Some houses and lots of duplexes. You just have to drive around and be ready to sign pretty immediately as rentals are going pretty fast in this area.

For schools, most of East Dallas is zoned to JL Long Middle School (6-8)and Woodrow Wilson HS (9-12). Just check the address to make sure.

Good luck.

http://www.dallasisd.org/cms/lib/TX0...Wilson2011.pdf It's also possible to transfer in for IB, but that can be tricky...better to be in the attendance zone. Long will be operating as a full IB school this fall even though accreditation is not expected to be completed until 2013.
