Thought I share a few pictures that people don't necessarily associate with city living in Dallas. Those are from my last bicycle trip around White Rock Lake. I find it amazing that it is possible to buy homes from $100k up within a mile of that lake!:

Yes, White Rock Lake is truly a jewel for Dallas. I love the trails and the wonderful Arboretum. The lake is very convenient to downtown and is surrounded by some fine, and surprising affordable neighborhoods. However, this home, I imagine, is slightly above the $100k range.

Little Forest Hills, 75218, has fixer uppers in that price range. Check out the area around Lakeland Drive, just across the Arboretum from Garland Road.

The picture of the mansion is from the NW side of the lake across Lawther. It has lake views. It is brand new and sprawling and probably is several million $$$.

Thanks I will check it out. I dont need a million dollar mansion with lakeside views. I just want and apt or house 3 bdr with some grass and off street parking. Thats all I care about. If I can find something like that in that area thats less then 150k I will be happy. Even if its a condo. I will take that too!

Lakewooder would probably know the name of the place but is that new condo building going up near the lake????? I remember several neighbors were fighting it when it was proposed awhile back. Did it take off and has it been started? If it has than that would be a great place to start as it would be near the lake, the Arboretum and the Casa Linda shopping center w/ PLENTY of shops, restaurants and such right there.

I soooo wish I would have taken picks from last spring one day when I was sitting up one day on the Platinum level of the AAC and could see HUGE vast areas of trees right there by downtown. It was SOOO NOT the image many have of Dallas.

Actually it WAS the Emerald Isle. They started out proposing a 25 story building then kept coming down. The neighbors just didn't want to see high-rises around the lake (they even fought an 8-story addition to the nursing home up between Mockingbird and NW Highway). Eventually I think the developer got down to 5 stories but it was still shot down. Maybe he just didn't start off right...I personally was not against it, but it's on 'the other side of the lake' so I just figured, 'stay out of it'. Will try to find a story to post about the details.

A few more pictures from Lake Highlands. This is from my morning commute (I usually ride my bicycle to work), taken last fall.

I also rody my bike today. It was really gorgeous, now that the temperatures are on the crisp side in the morning and the sky was just flawless today!
