My dog is a rescue dog and I also sometimes take in a foster until a home can be found for it. Dogs are unconditional love, and if one is being mistreated it makes my blood boil.

Call whoever you need to. Keep calling. Call the SPCA. At least that way the dog might have a chance to find a new home instead of being euthanized in a city shelter.

Both of ours are rescues, and have been the funniest, sweetest, and most intuitive animals we could ever hope for! Both were so easy to train and are fiercely loyal.

We've got a couple of great rescues that were pretty much unadoptable - try getting quotes for home insurance for a Rottweiler and a Doberman these days, then their is the social stigma.

They also looked and smelled awful, and one had been beaten.

They've proven to be wonderful. Thumbs up to the Richardson Animal shelter.

Amen! All of our's also. I don't see this kind of situation in my neighborgood, but visiting my ex-inlaws in the midwest it was normal to see dogs chained up, surrounded by excrement, and in the cold. The rules in that town were that if the dog had water it was fine. That was appalling to me.

We have two dogs one is a rescue golden she was mistreated by family and we got her at 1 year old. She is a real blessing a happy dog now that appreciates her new home. Our other Golden was picked and name by our grand daughter. We love them both. Both beautiful dogs one is red the other blonde. If it is not hot we take them with us in car and they love it.

I hope that this dog is rescued and I think it should be illegal to chain a dog.

There is an organization, Speak for Animals that is really almost an activist-type organization, one of whose main thrusts is public awareness and prevention of the chaining of dogs.

Edit: Well, I thought they were a national organization, but it seems they're just in the region we still live in. But here's their website anyway: Speak for Animals | Speaking for those with no voice... who long to be heard.
