LOL!

I know it's a bit oversimplified, but it's true. Some of the people I've spoken to in Allen are glad DART doesn't go up there because it keeps the "riff raff" out. Um...I've been to Allen...it has riff raff of its very own.

I think DART should charge more to people living in non-DART areas; maybe then they'll get serious about forcing their municipal governments to get on board. I can see why people in Plano using north Plano P&Rs get pissed off not being able to find a parking space because the lot is full of people driving in from McKinney and Allen.

I hear this a lot too, DART bringing in the undesirables...yet DART cant be the main factor in this...look at some of the cities that dont have DART; Mesquite, Arlington, Balch Springs...that has not stopped the riff raff from moving in.

On a side note, I've always thought it was somewhat ironic that the Parker station is more convenient to people in Allen/McKinney than to folks in West Plano.

People in west Plano probably think they'll catch ringworm or fleas from using public transportation.

The farthest north station requires a sticker noting that you are a Plano resident for free parking. I think it's a bad idea personally; public transport in Texas needs positive press for referrals as much as it needs the money, and you don't get positive press from nickel and diming your paying customers. Of course, if the lots were full of others not using DART rail, then they should pay, but that's not really a problem as there is no reason to park at any of Plano's stations if you aren't using DART.

I also understand not wanting to support a rail line that runs up the east side of 75 when the monied majority of your town is on the west side. I think the complaints about the system are legitimate though I think it's great that it runs to Fair Park, the Zoo, the AAC, and the museums. Driving and parking downtown is pretty awful even when traffic is light.
