Supposedly Ratheon is also going to be part of the State Farm complex at Bush & 75 in Richardson. I wonder if this move to McKinney is somewhat temporary - of maybe that will be another office and not HQ.

I cant believe this firm could move from Ca with it awesome weather and mountains and oceans...its an ideal place....for tourist... apparently not for a defense contractor!
Yeah, bring 'em on - for the tax structure we have.

Not a lot of jobs, but a coup nonetheless. And more prestige for the area.
A 6 billion business unit is a definite coup!

Their SAS unit is already based out of McKinney. They're now completing the move to bring the HQ for this division to McKinney. They're phasing out the Richardson & Plano sites...and moving some of those positions to...McKinney as well.

Not to mention the cost of doing business in that state.

The only thing I would question is this: whilst the office relocation is great for McKinney, I highly doubt that someone pulling $250K yearly is going to buy a home there. A $250K salary is Highland Park real estate, or at the very least West Plano. I cant see spending a million in McKinney, as nice an area as it is.

I dont know. 250k is probably closer to the bottom of the Highland Park market. Thats a better fit for West Plano or the newer upscale areas of Allen.

Just because someone can afford to buy a million-dollar home doesn't mean they will, or even necessarily want to.

I'm assuming the McKinney site is the one off of 380, west of 75 right? That location has been there forever and is quite large. I remember it when we moved to Prosper in the late 80s.

True, but generally speaking, how many people making over $250K buy $150K houses? I bet that in most cases, people with higher incomes tend to buy much more expensive housing. That being said, the purchase would have to make sense. I cant see spending much more than $500K in McKinney. I highly doubt that the McKinney real estate market would support homes $1 million plus.
