In Minnesota, several organizations called and came out to our neighborhood to pick up donated clothes, household items, etc. I recall the Lupus Foundation and ARC as the two primary ones. I'm not having much luck here in Dallas and wondering if anyone can recommend some places that pick up donations frequently. Thanks all.

ARC is around and the ones who call me are located in Arlington so your location might not work for them
The Arc of Texas : Get Involved : Donate Household Items : How to Contact Us (http://www.thearcoftexas.org/involved/donatehouseholditems/contact.asp - broken link)
part of their site lists what they will pickup and also says that they do not have facilities to clean/repair damaged items so they won't accept/take them

Goodwill and AmVETS take donations but don't make pick-up from info on their web sites

Yeah, we have quite a few charities that come by our house, but I am not sure how we originally got on their lists.

This is actually question I had myself. I am here out in Murphy, TX and I wanted to donate quite a few things. Any more additional info of other charities the pickup donations would be great!

Here's a previous thread with a good list of orgs that do:

Charity Donations - Furniture, Clothes, Toys, etc.

Also, as mentioned above, Salvation Army WILL do pickups - great service org!

Thanks for the responses. ARC doesn't come to our area often so I'm going to check with the Salvation Army and Genesis, which was mentioned on the other thread.

CCA in Lewisville and Metrocrest in Carrollton both pick up as long as you have furniture items.
Kidney Foundation as mentioned in another post will pick up almost anything and any locations from my understanding.

I have an upright freezer, washing machine, and large old couch that I want to donate - give away. Neither the freezer nor washer works, but would with a little repair. Is there any organization that would come by to pick them up. I live in Plano.

I've called Salvation Army & Captain Hope trucks in past but I'm sure there are many. You can post on Craigslist as well under free stuff with a curb alert header. I posted about an old bed at night and it was gone before I went out for my morning run.
