As my apartment search continues .. I've come across a really gorgeous unit at Aura Medical District but am not too familiar with the location. From what I've read on other posts, the area on Maple between Inwood and DNT can be a bit sketchy. Google street view shows the surrounding streets to be a little less than desirable. It's proximity to OTHER areas is nice, but it seems like someone just dropped this nice complex into a dump. Can anyone chime in?

Thanks!

Terrible location. That area has gotten a little better, but it's about to get a lot worse. The largest concentration of public housing in Dallas is going in right across the street. There's already public housing nearby, and that complex is in the middle of the sketchiest parts of Maple.

I can't believe what they're asking in rent for those. I feel sorry for anyone who signs a lease, not knowing that area. I also don't like the fact that those are garden style apartments, complexes built like that always go down hill fast. This place has a tiny pool, won't be as energy efficient as many of the new courtyard buildings, no elevator, poor security, huge ugly Parkining lot; I would skip on that place

This would be a MAJOR step down from the Ilume IMO.

I knew you would come to my aid Ronnie lol.. thank you! I wasn't sure if they were all garden style-no elevator or what, and not sure what the parking situation is but I figured it may be a step in the wrong direction. The rent high for the location I agree. I still have the place at Ilume on hold, I found a nice unit on the 5th floor that came available so I actually switched to that unit. My only concern is that it faces the pool and I'm a little concerned with how loud and/or rowdy it might get. I will likely end up down there, it is a great building and I simply cannot find the same style/amenities at a better price.
