What is the area of Farmers Branch like? It may work well for my commute but I know nothing about it. The area I am looking in is south of Brookhaven Country Club, West of Brookhaven College, East of Webb Chapel Rd and North of I635. (Or feel free to comment on better areas of Farmer Branch if that makes sense). I am looking for areas where housing is in the $400k-$500k range but please do not leave out a part if it is a little higher.

Thank you

FB is in a great location and has lovely sprawling Texas ranchers that are very typical of the DFW area around Brookhaven. It has pretty mediocre schools. It is becoming an active real estate area. Many of the houses have large lots for the DFW area.

FB as a town suffered a black eye in the early 2000's for its stand against illegals by trying to impose the burden on landlords to verify tenants' legal status as residents in the USA before being able to execute leases. This was very contraversial and caused the town heavy legal fees and negative public opinion.

Cops in Farmers Branch are jerks.

With a budget that high, I would not look in Farmer's Branch. I'd either look in 75229 south of Forest or in Far North Dallas (Prestonwood or neighborboods zoned to RISD). If your office is closer to 35, Coppell or Las Colinas could be good options, too.

I would consider Farmer's Branch for rental property, but not to live there.

Schools don't matter as no kids that age (but for resale I guess I want something halfway decent). Looking close to Love Field and something a little newer.

Thanks

For newer near Love Field, Las Colinas zip 75039 or Addison would be ok.

FB is a nice, quiet (almost sleepy) suburb of Big D.

Grew up there in the late 60's - mid 80's and am in the process of moving back.

Maybe it's largely due to nostalgia - but I love it here.

Have lived around N. Dallas and a brief stint in Austin (too crowded) as an adult but am glad to be returning home!

Las Colinas is nowhere near Love Field. That's a 20 minute drive if there's no traffic on 114, and that is almost never the case. Most of Farmers Branch is a straight shot down Webb Chapel or Marsh/Lemmon to Love Field.

I loved growing up in Farmers Branch, and $400k would go extremely far. You can get a late 60s ranch in good condition for under $250k right now--it's a little further north than areas in the city and the teardown trend driving up prices has thus far stayed south of Forest (though it has noticeably crept north of Royal in the last few years). If you're looking for something bigger and pricier than a ranch-style, there are bigger homes similar to what you'd find in Preston Hollow in the Glad Acres subdivision (which may have been the area you were referring to) or Vineyard Way, which is a small gated community.

You might also want to look at Disney Streets/Northaven Park (area between Marsh Ln, Forest Ln, Midway Rd, and Royal Ln with streets named for Disney characters). There are nice homes in your price range and great resale value because the local elementary school is top-notch.

Another area I would consider looking in is just south of 635 in the neighborhood bordered by the DNT, 635, Midway & Forest. Lots of beautiful homes in there within your budget, though they are older (1960s & 1970s). Occasionally you'll find a renovated gem, but those houses sell fast!
