How are the seasonal allergies in the Dallas/Richardson area and areas north/northeast/east of Dallas? For those who are sensitive, is it bad? Is there a local website/link that discusses this? Thanks!

I have a friend who checks on pollen.com. Also the local weather/tv stations discuss what's flying around in the air.

Mountain cedar is horrible for me... but that's in Dec/Jan. It caught me by surprise when we first moved here... I didn't expect allergies that time of year.

Other than that, no big problems.

Hi. It took me about 12-15 months to get acclimated. My main advice is take Claritin (D if you need it). I also needed some prescription allergy eye drops for the really bad months (Spring and Fall for me). Just don't let yourself suffer... go to the doctor before it gets bad.

I've lived in PA, AZ, IN, FL and TX and it's the worst here for me. What really works for me is to start taking Zyrtec BEFORE the season starts - that way it'll stave off the worst of the symptoms. For this area I start taking Zyrtec the first day of March and stop when it's sometime in summer. If I don't start the antihistamines early, I get bad allergies and they're harder to suppress once they get rollin'.

I also love OTC allergy eye drops. Bausch & Lomb makes Alaway and it does cut out the itchies pretty fast and lasts for about 8 hours.

Both Zyrtec and Alaway are non-prescription. Zyrtec I just saw in the drugstore aisles last week - about time!

HTH!
