Exactly! I got chased by a mosquito on Sunday and that sucker was fast

What we need is a nice freeze or near freeze to kill most of the bugs

Are the mosquitos worse this year with so much rain? I've had a lot of visitors to my place recently and some of them keep getting bitten. They stay away from me and my spouse but our kids get bitten. One visitor became obsessed with trying to extinguish them from our yard. When will they finally go away...November?

My dad swears by Mosquito Squad but I thought I would try a few Lowes products first but that hasn't really helped too much. I'm going to shell out the cash and call in MS next summer, and hopefully that will do the trick.

I think they are bigger here in Texas. I imagine them decked out in boots and cowboy hats!

We have Mosquito Squad AND we are vigilant about dumping water and getting rid of the types of plants that harbor mosquitoes. At the beginning of the year, we had no issues, but since all this rain, Mosquito Squad is just making a dent. The problem is, they aren't spraying all my neighbors' yards. And mosquitoes fly. .

When the temps get in the 50s, mosquito activity slows down. More wind will help too.

I've been bitten in December before plenty of times but they tend to slow down as it gets cooler. They are still out roaming in 60 degrees, but long sleeves help. It needs to get colder than that to really get rid of them.

Case in point, the summer I worked in Alaska it got over 70 only a hand full of times, it mostly stayed in the 60s, but I've never seen so many damn mosquitos in my life. Alaska is 3X the size of Texas and so are the mosquitos lol

"Winter" down here really doesn't get going till Jan/ Feb....December has had Muggy 80 Degree plus Days in December 7/8 of the Decembers I've been here. Sometimes we get freezing weather in December, we did 2 years ago and a bunch of pipes froze at one of my client's, but Late Jan, early Feb (Groundhog Day whoot whoot, best holiday of the year!) is more reliably cold than December, in my experience at least.

I think the rain this year has made them worse than normal, but they are always a factor. The Alley behind my house has plenty of standing water from the rain, so I think that's where my issue is coming from.
