Met with a accident this evening. The guy hit my car as he was trying to change lanes and it was his fault. I did call the police and have a report filed.

Unfortunately he doesn't insurance. I have a 2000 deductible and no uninsured motorist coverage.

What are my options?

TIA.

Just curious, have you asked your insurance what the next steps are? I suspect that even though you can sue and subrograte the claim against him it'll cost more to do so than your out of pocket cost.

File through your insurance and pay 2k. When you cheap out on insurance, you save on the front end and pay on the back-end.

Seconded. Buy better coverage next time if you don’t want to pay a 2k deductible.

Wow, insurers must offer it to you and if you don't want it you have to turn it down in writing. Dang, you really need it around here. Pay up, listen learned.

No not yet. I didn't even think of any legal route. I will be happy if he can pay me at least half the cost to fix it.

OP -- If he can't afford to insure his car, it's highly unlikely you're going to recover anything from him -- even if you win in court.

That old adage is true, "You can't get blood from a stone."

I often wonder what percentage of DFW drivers don't have insurance
