I was driving in Plano today, to go to the ATM and I saw lots of traffic, it was like a normal day. It wasn't even rush hour. Unbelievable. And the mall is open, too.

And no, I wasn't going out of my car. I went to the ATM to get cash in case of an emergency situation.

The mall in Plano, Willow Bend has sent out revised hours (closing earlier) but they are still in business.

There have been individual stores in the mall that have closed.

I have gotten emails from every store I have ever bought anything from and almost every place that is not a Targwt or a WalMart is closing for the next two weeks....all mall type stores...everything from Coach to L'Occitane to Bath and Body Works to Vineyard Vines...

ETA: with "shelter in place" orders for SF and possibly for NYC, I can see that happening here as well.

I am trying to get as much done out of the house as I can such as stocking up on my father's diabetes testing supplies in preparation for sheltering in place. I'm also trying to get my kids on a schedule at home so that they hopefully won't go too stir crazy.

Rush hour traffic coming back from Plano felt pretty normal volume but an hour earlier than normal.

I drove around just go try to get a feel for how many people were out. 75%+ of the stores at Legacy West and Shops at Legacy are closed. Then I saw one careefree table of senior citizens dining al fresco at Taverna...

All of this sounds like smart moves! The Italians have warned that UK and the USA have about 9-12 days before things go from bad to worse as all the asymptomatic persons with the virus will have done damage in the community and the incubation phase ends.

Who are these people? How is traffic volume at similar levels?
