It's a current fad, but it's already outdated.

As opposed to Fake Brick "Veneers" that are so popular down here?

It seems like many if not most of the "Brick" houses here are not really brick but timer framed houses with brick siding.

Correct brick veneers are popular here. They are all wood frames.

When I moved here ~20 years ago, new home builds are typically build with orange/red brick walls. Then stone facade started to become popular. I am now noticing white bricks on new houses. I still don't see stucco or wood sidings becoming the norm.

What do you mean "here"?

Brick as a structural material has not been a normal construction method in the US for over a hundred years, anywhere. Standard for all US houses for at least 100 years is framing with dimensional lumber (NOT "timber framing", either) and exterior veneers of various materials, the most common being wood siding, wood shingles, brick, and stone.

Framing is done with wood and the exterior is brick or brick stone combo. Stucco is what I think makes a house looks like California style. I am seeing a lot of wood siding houses too. I’ve yet to see brick veneer houses. A beautiful brick masonry work beats all other styles in my opinion.

The first bolded part is the definition of brick veneer. > 99.9% of "brick" houses built in the last 100 years in the DFW are brick veneer.
