It looks like the Oakland A's will be relocating if they are not able to get a new stadium built.
If they relocate they will most likely stay in the PST and will probably move to Las Vegas.

MLB currently has 30 franchises and at some point in the next 10 years will probably look at moving to 32 teams.

It would be my dream for Dallas to get its own Major League Baseball franchise, and have a team located downtown.
Having a stadium located off the DART rail where you do not need to drive would be amazing.

The Metroplex is missing a true urban environment for its baseball team. I would love to be able to go to a baseball game and have readily available nightlife for pre game and post game activities like I can in Minneapolis, Boston, Chicago, Seattle...etc
In all of these cities its quite easy to get to a baseball game without a car.

I've lived in Dallas since the 1980's and I have no connection to the Texas Rangers because that franchise goes out of its way to let you know they do not represent Dallas. Plus they never win.

Dallas deserves a team that wins and consistently competes for championships.
In this aspect I'm actually very envious of Houston, and its relationship to the Astros.

Can’t be done easily. MLB has a 50 mile protection limit from other MLB parks and a separate limit from minor league parks. So there are huge exclusion zones around both Arlington and Frisco.

There are workarounds but the Rangers would fight.

It really sucks because an MLB team downtown or close would kill it.

Laura Miller is the mayor who keeps on taking from the city.

Dallas has had it's shot at all of these sports teams and blown it. They just don't want to put up the cash.

You think they would build something as nice as the new Ranger Stadium? People won't go hang around Fairpark after a game.

The A's can go to Vegas.

MLB won't waste an expansion team in a market they are already in.

Not the DFW market, they won't.

Doesn't matter if people west of Dallas County get offended when people identify the Rangers with the City of Dallas; the MLB considers the Rangers Dallas' team......

While this is true, that doesn't mean there is no room for another team... it just wouldn't be an American League team. Chicago has the Cubs and White Sox, Dallas could make a case for an NL team to setup shop.

I remember a long time ago an idea was floated to do just that... but it wasn't in Dallas. It was supposed to be in either Garland, Sachse, or Richardson, around the Firewheel area, off of the (at the time) proposed PGBT somewhere.

Richardson was the only city that had the tax base that could probably have afforded it, and they weren't interested.

Yep. NY, LA, and the Bay Area also have two MLB teams in the same market. I don't ever see it happening in DFW, though.

Richardson is getting a minor league sports team - basketball I think, but I don't exactly recall.
