We have been looking for a while in multiple cities and states and plan to move south this summer.

This Allen home just came to the market
https://www.zillow.com/homes/5300-Ra...59856548_zpid/

We like Allen schools, we like 1-acre yard, outdoor is awesome. The Interior is nice enough and we may paint and refresh a few things but it is a home that checks most of our boxes.

Is Paul Talyor a good builder?
Is this home located in a good community?
Currently, our jobs are remote but I may have a future job in Plano. Can I assume the commute will be reasonable?

Is there anything else we should be aware of before making an offer on this home?

Thanks

East Allen around Bethany is a great area, so yeah the area is fine. Commute though Plano, even to Legacy isn't that bad.Bethany eventually turns into Hedgecoxe which will take you across Plano, US75 south access to Dallas, Richardson, and eastern Plano. If you are a boating family, Lake Lavon is close by.

There is a lot of construction of homes in that area - it may cause delays, and most retail is to the west on US75 and north on Stacy.

What part of Plano? Google maps says leaving at 7:30 should get you to Shops at Legacy area in 25-45 minutes. It's only ~14 miles, but assume 2-3 minutes per mile.

Currently, jobs are remote. In the future, I may have to go onsite to meet clients. So it is hard to predict which part for Plano. I have connections at Pepsi which is located at 1800 Preston Park Blvd.

Thanks for the 2-3 minutes per mile rule of thumb. I will keep that in mind.

1-acre lot is thing of the past for any major suburbs unless you want to go deep in the country.

Paul Taylor is a reputable custom builder and a good community. Front elevation looks out of fashion with the current new house trend, but interior seems gone thru remodeling with latest trend. If that's not an issue for you then no brainer to proceed with the house based on your criteria.

Love the Patio/back yard. If you dont have kids or they stay inside all day that yard is a waste and will cost $$ to be mowed/maintained.

Yes go see it if possible. I usually am very reluctant to recommend an offer from someone who's not actually been inside the house.

It's a good neighborhood and you're actually as close to Parker Rd as Bethany which will also get you to Plano quickly.

That said, the area surrounding the neighborhood itself isn't all sunshine and roses. There's a paintball venue, a private sports complex, stone supply company. You are almost into Parker at that point and Parker has ZERO retail so you will have to go north for everything unless you head south into Murphy.

Bonus is that you'll likely be able to see fireworks at Southfork Ranch, and on a quiet evening maybe hear some music.

There is a Walmart right up the road at Angel Parkway and Lucas Road. Just a little west on Bethany is a Kroger and McDonald's. H-E-B is being built at Greenville Avenue and Exchange Parkway. To the south is Murphy with lots of fast food, another Walmart, a few fitness places, Sprout's, Mexican and Italian restaurants.
