Do you already have a job lined up? The area is pretty large and you wouldn't want to commute from Garland to Fort Worth every day... or from Denton to Mesquite.

I'd suggest finding a job first, since it'll really big a huge factor in the areas you look to live. I recently relocated here from VA. I knew I would be working in Richardson, and once my wife found a job in Rockwall, we limited our search area to Murphy, Lucas, Wylie, and Sachse. If her job were elsewhere we probably would have looked at different areas.

I haven't been to Omaha, but NC is similar to where I lived (VA) for a number of years. The value is good in NC compared to CT, but you'll probably find more bang for your buck in TX. Just be prepared that with no state income tax, the property taxes are high (~2.5% avg). If you make a good income, it'll probably work out in your favor. Our combined state tax burden is about 5k less here in TX.

Taxes here are unreal. We pay close to 3k on our 1000 suqare foot home. 600 doolars for cars every year. Gas is 2.37 per gallon(a deal now) PLus state income taxes. Our tiny home would sell for about 160-180k. My husband is a comercail underwitter and their are alot of big companies in Dallas. When he does a job serach more jobs pop up in Dallas tehn the other places. We can not move until we have job. WHere ever the job is we are. I do theraputic recretion in a nursing home. I could work anywhere, but his job is the primary source of income. Thank you for your post,it was helpful.
