I have a son who was in private school through the elementary and middle school years and then graduated from Bryan Adams HS in 2010. I also find myself now with a kindergartener and a preschool student. My Kindergartener is at Hexter this year and I couldn't be happier. I'm AMAZED at the parent involvement! My oldest son was at Lakewood Elementary for the first half of his Kindergarten year, and although the staff was terrific, I can definitely relate to the point regarding the "good kids" and "bad kids". The problem I found at Lakewood back then is that the parents seemed to be less involved and there was a pretty good mix of kids without the parental support that provides for a healthy learning environment for all of our children. Besides the quality of the educators, the most important contributing factor in our children's education is US! When you have a dedicated mix of parents involved in their kids' educations, in addition to an exemplary rated school, you just can't go wrong. My advice... check out the number of parent volunteers and how active the PTA is for that school. If the parents are involved, I feel confident that the kids will all benefit! It doesn't get better than Hexter in that arena!
