Damn, I hope I don't have to dress like one of the competitors in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.http://plurkfiends.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/92b595a573d25dd5e39a57b5d56d4d03.gif (broken link)

It'd be difficult to swing a golf club with that many clothes on...

Hey all! Thanks for the kind recommendation BstYet2Be!

Right now it looks like most of the precipitation will fall as rain across the Metroplex, with the heaviest activity occurring Sunday night/Monday morning. There is still a lot of uncertainty regarding the south and eastward extent of they wintry precipitation.

As of right now, the coldest model is the GFS and that shows a few hours of sleet mixed in with snow at DFW before the moisture exits the area. The European and Canadian models keep the coldest air to the northwest. The biggest question is how much moisture will linger after the cold air settles in. That will determine how much, if any sleet or snow falls.

My thoughts:
The best chance for accumulating snow will be in the Panhandle. Areas around Lubbock and Amarillo could easily pick up more than 6 inches of snow. Heavier amounts are possible in Oklahoma. Totals will taper off further south and east.

In the immediate DFW metroplex, I think there will be periods of sleet perhaps ending with light snow on Monday evening. I think most of the moisture will exit when the coldest air works in. If my projections are off by only a couple degrees at any level of the atmosphere, the difference could mean heavier wintry precip accumulations or nothing but rain, so stay tuned. We're on the cusp with this one.

Oh, and looking into the future, the European Model hints at a possible wintry mix event again next Sunday. If we don't get snow from either event, there will be several other opportunities the winter. The storm track is right over Texas, and as the air gets colder, so will the precip.

Here's my first map on this system.. leaning slightly colder than what I think it'll be at the moment. I'll make another map tomorrow morning with adjustments.
