Here is the search link for finding the schools in your school district.

2009 Accountability: A-Z Search List (http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/perfreport/account/2009/static/AZ.html - broken link)

I can't comment on other schools/ school district but was following the area serving Coppell HS and Flower Mound HS in my house search last 6 months. I read somewhere on the other forums that getting exemplary rating for a High school is difficult. Coppell HS is still recognized and Flower Mound HS is exemplary now. When we met the Councillor of Coppell HS this summer they gave us some reason of not making it and i am surprised they couldn't make it this year as well. Most schools in Flower Mound area (from Lewisville ISD) are exemplary and overall the Lewisville ISD with its size seems to have done pretty good.

Adixyz....I am curious what the counselor told you about Coppell HS. My sons goes there and it concerns me that the new HS was rated exemplary and the old one recognized. Now I wonder if we've made yet another mistake in moving to Coppell!!

It had something to do with special needs. I am ignorant on how the ratings are awarded and trying to get more educated. Not sure why they didn't get 'Exemplary' and hope they make it next year. If i would have bought a house in Coppell ISD, personally i would have chosen Coppell HS over New Tech High for the diversity and programs it offers.

this year I believe special needs students are supposed to be given a grade level TAKS test--the only special assistance available is that it can be taken in individual circumstances or depending on the student--some may have their tests transcribed--they speak the answer and someone (a teacher/counselor) writes their answer

this is more diffucult than in past years where students who qualified for special needs programs could also receive a modified test that was for a grade corresponding to their ability level...not the same as now--like an 11th grade student could receive a test from 8th grade

also it might have to do with % of special needs students--some schools may not have enough special needs students to make a countable group--if the total number is smaller than the required #, then every student could fail and it would not affect the school's rating
if the special needs grouping IS enough to make a countable group then 1 student's scores can be significant in affecting the school's overall score

I saw this earlier today.
New Texas rule on predicted passing boosts TAKS ratings
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/080309dnmettaksjump.3c46271.html

More than a third of local campuses rated "exemplary" fell short of the official standard – a 90 percent pass rate on all TAKS tests. But these schools benefited from a new rule that says it's OK if kids fail the test, so long as they're predicted to pass in a future year.
I'm not sure I get it. Shouldn't you predict everyone to pass in future years? Isn't that the point of education?

By determining a group of failing students that they predict to pass in future years aren't they are also creating a group of failing students who they predict to continue to fail?

It sounds kind of ridiculous.

From the dallasnews.com DISD blog:

Did you get trained by your associate principals about TPM or was it optional for some schools? We ate and breathe TPM the last week of school. We were kicking and screaming why we needed the training when we have grades to do and school is almost over. Now I understand why. Thank you Dean Escanilla! This is the part of the packet she gave us for individual student calculation. I don’t know how the overall school calculation is done but maybe your CILT and administrators know how to do that.

Go to TPM Calculator (http://forwardfocus.pearson.com/tpmcalculator/ - broken link)

Campus Name: type your school (select in pop-up window)

CDC Number: this will automatically pops up

Grade: Select the grade of student you want to verify

Projection Subject: Select subject (if you select Science or Social Studies, you need to also input Reading/ELA and Math scores)

Reading/ELA Score: input score

Mathematics Scale score: input score

Science Scale score: input score

Social Studies Scale Score: input score

Another window will pop up. If the TPM score is more than 2100, student is considered "Met Standard" even if original TAKS score is below 2100. She mentioned something about regression coefficient and parametric something but it was way above my head. Just play with it and see how it works.
