Hi ya'll. My husband and I (mid 40's) are empty nesters and looking to relocate. We live in upstate NY and are looking to get away from the high cost of living and the cold weather. He has 25 years experience in all aspects of residential construction and I am a recent Medical Assistant graduate. We are attracted to the Dallas/Fort Worth region due to the weather (hot but low humidity). What small towns do you recommend that are friendly and peaceful but within a 30 minute drive for employment? Schools are not an issue for us and it doesn't matter if the neighborhood is full of families or retirees. We are very laid-back and easy-going so we can mix with just about any type of person. We would like a small rental home but can live in our RV until we decide on a location. We are thinking that we should decide on an area in which to live (maybe Sherman) before we start our job search. What are your ideas? Where are the best job opportunities for us? How far away would my husband need to go from the Dallas/Fort Worth area for hunting, fishing, etc? Any insight/advice/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

Not a lot of people live in Sherman and work in Dallas. They are far enough away that they are in different TV markets. A few make the journey, but not a lot. Probably McKinney is the furthest you would want to look for a job if living in Sherman. Lake Texoma is up there near Sherman. It's a great lake - very large, great fishing.

Hello upstate NY'ers.

1. Are you relocating with your jobs to move here? Or, is it just to warm up? What type of work do you do? What is your annual income? Have you been pre approved by a lender?

2. Where will you work at? I would also like to know if you want to live close to work? Or shopping Malls and Restaurants? What is important to you? Do you want a Home Owners Association in your subdivision? A pool?

Have a great day!

The DFW region is very hot for months on end accompanied with humidity. It's a tough summer climate.
