I know you have been looking at high rises but you might check out the areas around Lakewood Shopping Center. Easy to walk to a lot of places, including the new Whole Foods Grocery. Singles, families, everything in-between. Kid friendly.

Check out some of the places within the freeway loop downtown, such as the Main Street District. There are a lot of older buildings-turned-lofts (along with newer luxury apartments), and it's not quite the party crowd you find in Uptown. Because downtown is a growing diverse residential neighborhood, it has a small community feel to it. We've made good friends with several people in our building and adjacent buildings through community events. There is a slow but growing retail scene, new parks (MAINSTREETGARDEN.ORG), it's walkable to sports events and cultural events and it's a quick streetcar ride to the hip restaurants and shops of Uptown.

You can find a full listing of all residential properties here (http://www.yourdspot.com/residential.aspx - broken link), or feel free to send me a message.
