Hi there,
I have a sister in great need in Plano and I thought I could help by researching food banks and other types of assistance, especially with utilities. If anyone here can refer me to some organizations that might help her, I'd appreciate it. I have found only a few on my own and there may be more. her child is also uninsured, and she is researching CHIPS and Child Medicaid as well. Thanks a lot for any help.

God's Food Pantry is in Plano. No questions asked. I don't have their address as they come to our church every week to collect. There is also a food bank in Allen.

Ask the school about the insurance for the kids. At the beginning of the year they send home all of the info to sign up for health insurance for low costs.

Default food pantry plano

Thanks momof2. I saw Gods Food Pantry online too. an article from early October said they were about to go under tho, insufficient funds to pay their bills. Maybe an angel came through for them tho. I did send her their info tho. I'll tell her about ins through school, she might not be aware of that. ;o) Bridget

thanks for that pepper. I did see their website, but not a list of participating pantries, so I sent them an email asking for one. Not apparent on their website. ;o) Bridget

Yes, God's Food Pantry has seen the hard times as well. They are still open and were getting donations today at church.

Call the student service depts. in local school districts as their Counseling dept. may have contacts as well. I know that CFBISD has resources and contacts for families. I would imagine other districts would as well.
