Lakewood is probably closest cool area for that drive...

Forney has many new homes and recent builds in the $150-250,000., price range. It's a growing area, just off Highway 80 and I-20, and would put you around 20-30 minutes from the FCI.

Forney is kind of in the middle of nowhere from what I have seen driving that way to Shreveport--more rural area that had cheap land so developers moved out that way--

Forney is a nice town but since the OP ask for upper middle class I don't it would be a good fit for what she is looking for. Lakeridge in Cedar Hill is another place she should check out. The commute would be very easy once she got past I35.
