Is Dallas ugly? (Houston, Austin, Fort Worth: home, cabins, airports)

Not sure anyone relocates for beauty, but it is one of those things that you realize you miss when it's gone. However, like many have said, you can find beauty here if you look, especially in the constuction of both new and older homes and commercial buildings. I'm back here in San Diego now and I'm actually dissapointed at how cheap the homes look to me now that I've been tainted with North Dallas Brick/Stone...it's like you see miles of rolling hills with cheap looking little stucco tract homes.

I guess I'm now seeing some flaws in what I thought was beautiful before....maybe I'll see it in a different light one day when I return here...not sure, but beauty does seem relative and very subjective.

I like the skyline of Dallas coming in from the South, where you see the lights of the Reunion Tower.

There are some very nice parts of town as well, my neice has a condo in Highland Park which is a very nice neighborhood with old growth trees and very posh houses.

Its people dress pretty. Nature-wise (except for the snow) and architecture-wise (most of it), Dallas is not an attractive city to me, but because everything that Dallas is makes it beautiful and very enjoyable. That's all that matters. Always happy and excited in Dallas.

I visited Dallas a few weeks ago, and coming from Long Island, I found Dallas to be very open, green, clean and new looking. I was surprised by the amount of big old trees. Very pretty indeed.

Dallas quite simply is feathureless. No rivers, no oceans, no mountains, and minimul vegetation. In a sense that's what really makes it so impressive because it has done very well in terms of offering economic opportunity without having any intrinsict qualities to be attractive. It is quite simply an overachiever.

I have to agree though that Dallas isn't pretty in the sense of water, mountains, etc... but honestly Dallas has a beautiful skyline (sp) in my opinion. :-)
