I know that I missed out, arriving in the Dayton area after Woody's closed (but before it was torn down...)

I'm glad other people think Dayton is boring as well. For a while I thought something was wrong with me.

I found quite a few things to do during the summer. I biked the trails from Dayton to Cincinnati, then from Dayton to Columbus. Then it started raining and things got cold. Now I sit in front of my computer...and wait!

No nothing wrong with you. when I first arrived in America from England in 1978 I felt the same about Dayton. I have lived in several states before moving back here. I am older now and some of my needs and interests have changed. I am very very busy with my art in Yellow Springs, so I enjoy life here in Ohio and I like the people of Ohio in general.

Default gem city? slum city?

Im FROM Dayton and I guarantee I can tell u alot about the city itself. Two quick facts it has been a historically dangerous and "poor" city, as well as product of many creative and visionary musicians, artists, and unique culturalists

I'd like to hear your examples of how Dayton has always been considered dangerous and poor. Specific examples, please.

I always think of Dayton as an early 20th century version of Silicon Valley, and I think it's a shame that the city hasn't been able to make more of its history as a center of innovation.

I truly believe that Dayton will, like the Phoenix, rise up from the ashes!!!

This week, Dayton could've been the location for an "Ice Road Truckers" episode...BRRR!
