Default What Dayton area cities will see the most growth in 2010's?

What Dayton area cities/suburbs will see the most growth in 2010's?
Here's my list.

1. Beavercreek (duh... Wright Patt)
2. Springboro (nice town, good community)
3. Vandalia (location, airport expansion, open land, unaddressed retail)
4. Kettering (location and growing healthcare)
5. Fairborn (Wright-Patt)
6. Centerville (natural trend)
7. Tipp City (good small town atmosphere)
8. Bellbrook (growing house trend)
9. Dayton (new urbanism and substantial growth downtown with jobs)
10. Troy (character and retail)

I would take Kettering off that list as it's an aging community and wont be growing via annexation.

Miami Township and Miamisburg are poised for growth once that Austin Road exit opens.

Southern reaches of Washington Township will also grow, for the same reason.

Fairborn has serious issues of decline in its older areas, and will only see growth if they manage to annex or see development along I-675, but are landlocked a bit by the CEMEX lands.

I'm very interested in seeing where they will finally build that "disaster training area" (Sorry, I've forgotten the name of it) I remember that it may possibly be built within Fairborn's city limits and that would be a plus. Otherwise, I agree with you, Jeffery T about Fairborn.

Nickolasposter, Centerville has both aging housing stock as well as newer, nicer homes. But it'll be OK if it just shares services with Washington Twp. and not try to "engulf & devour" the township...

I'd also add Germantown to the list; I see good growth out there, too.

I think Germantown is probaby the most underrated suburb of Dayton.

I didn't even think of Miamisburg. That should be up there too! But I really think Vandalia will become the Beavercreek of the north. It is just too developable not to do anything. Honestly...from the success of Miller Lane do you think that when the economy picks back up any developer will just ignore Vandalia??? It has four interchanges and two are being proposed along the Airport Access Road which has about 900 acres of undeveloped land surrounding it. Also, the city is considering purchasing the land that vacant Delphi sits on too develop it, too. There is already an interchance right next to that. Plus Vandalia is just really really lacking alot of retailers. They have Kroger, Wal-Mart, and Sam's Club. There aren't really any department stores and there isn't one store to buy clothing at. I think that Vandalia is too centralized to be ignored. But yes. I'd like to learn more about Germantown...tell me about it? I heard of the name but is it nice?

Is Germantown a suburb? Seems to me its far enough out to be its own little town.
Things just continue to move east, Half priced books moved to Fairfield.

It would be nice to see (and not just in Fairborn) old declined areas of housing refurbished vs. just more sprawl sprawl sprawl

Well unfortunately no one with a sense of sanity wants to move to Dayton right now because we have had three of our top employers leave and our mayor is still blazing.

If the central city doesn't thrive, how the h*ll do you expect the 'burbs to?

Please don't ignorantly bash the D like every other lazy dumb@ss in this city. If you aren't willing to work to improve the city, than there is no way in h*ll that you have any right what so ever to knock it when it is down.
