My husband I are meeting with a realtor this weekend to visit some potential homes as we retire from New York to Delaware. We are tentatively going to: Ponds at Bayberry and Whispering Woods (Middletown), Odessa National (Townsend), Willowwood (Smyrna), Nobles Pond (Dover), Champions Club (Magnolia). We would love insight from anyone familiar with any of these developments. We are in hopes of finding a new or resale home (relatively open floor plan) with some nature/woods nearby in a community with amenities. I did read on another thread about the recent legal issue with the developer of Noble Ponds. Is that reason enought to take it off our list? TIA

Try using the search bar under the thread title to the right. Put in the development names and see where that takes you. I seem to recall there were a few about Magnolua

My advice is simple - If this is your first visit to Delaware then drive the state. Go down as many roads as you can. From Centerville to Lewes. Take note of what areas and developments you like, research latter.

Stop in grocery stores and malls and walk around. At the very least take note of what stores you see.

Read the local newspapers online.

Thanks, we have been following a few sources online, including City-Data. This weekend will be our 4th "official" visit, focusing on New Castle and Kent Counties.
