Wilmington is great. My wife and I have lived here for the past 7 years. We have our house for sale and are relocating only because of work. Where we live in Trolley Square, there are a lot of restaurants, parks, and stores within walking distance. We will really miss this when we move.

Are the current mayor and police chief doing positive things for the city? Would it be in our best interest to buy a home in a nearby town? I would love to get a response from a current resident of the city.

Because the OP asked an open-ended question without giving her rent budget she got the responses from the people who lived anywhere in the City. PwFitz who has lived in Wilmington proper recently and for a fairly decent amount of time seems qualified to reliably give guidance to OP if s/he has not already decided not to venture.....

From July 2006 to Feb 2009 to July 2010. These old threads just won't go away quietly, will they?

[QUOTEThe "burbs" of Wilmington are, in general, very nice. Areas like Pikeville are very ritzy, while other areas are simply "nice."

Where the hell is Pikeville?

They must've been thinking of Pike Creek. I'd tend to commend Hockessin, Greenville, Westover Hills, Centreville and Montchanin instead.

Yes, and I always wonder why someone digs up such an old thread and decides to post on it.
