My wife and I have lived in Newark for the last 7 years and are finally ready to purchase our first home. We both work in downtown Wilmington and would like to keep our commute around 30 minutes or less.

We're shopping for houses now and our current lease is up in June - but we have the option to roll it over on a month-to-month basis if necessary. Our price range is around $200-220k.

We are looking for suggestions on good areas to search as well as specific neighborhoods if possible.

We are both 30 years old and are tired of living in apartments and condo/townhomes. We're looking for a single family home in an actual neighborhood instead of on a main road. We'd like to get the opportunity to get to know our neighbors and walk the dog around the block without worry.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Will it be reasonable to think that you already know where you would not like to buy?

You may have seen some homes by visiting Open House events, but it would not cost you anything to hire a Buyer's Agent - a Realtor!! And by sharing your criteria for the desirable home with the realtor you can efficiently locate the right house.

yeah, living in Newark for 7 years, hopefully you explored the state a bit and tried to find some areas more desirable to you...as I'm sure you know, there are so many housing developments, it will make your head spin not only around Newark but all over the place as long as it is above the canal (keeping your commute to 30 minutes or less)

Check out real estate ads.. Check out The Guide make an appointment and visit one or more homes .If you don't see what you want. When you find a Realtor you are comfortable with tell him or her what you want and ask them to look for you. They have complete access to all the multilistings in the county.
