I need some help.
Many years ago i was told i needed a crown i said no way. i am not the kind of person who can handle something fake in my mouth.
Then i saw my son get one and it was a piece of cake. no issues. looks like his tooth.. no pain.. la de da

so when i went back years later the dentist said you need 2 crowns i was like ok whatever i need.

So i get the temp, and its horrible.. big and hurts. i go back and this other helper says oh this is all wrong, there is too much cement its big and these 2 reasons are why its irritating you. so she takes it off cleans it up shaves it down and puts it back.. it was still anoying as hell but i dealt with it.

Then i get the real deal. Well when i floss in the back of the back tooth the floss fits right under there, deep and gets caught. and when i eat over there food will go between the 2 crowns. I can not floss it out.. its like deep in this tiny pocket in my gum where the floss just glides over it..

I cant stand them. I called the dentist and have gone back 3x. 3x they have drilled around here and there and 3xs i have come home and its really the same problem again.. its slightly better but still the same.

I can tell they are compleatly annoyed with me and i sure dont have any faith in them anymore.

Id go somewhere else but insurance has already covered these teeth and they will not pay for another for 5 years. they said they can ASK for the money back? idk.

anyway, i want to pull the teeth and be done with it. I cant eat, i cant sleep, i have anxiety all the time.. its been a month.. ive had enough..

what do you think?

I would ask the dentist for a full refund and then go to a specialist (prosthodontist). You may have some odd issues with that area of your mouth.

If your dentist refuses, go to a prosthodontist anyway and ask for a consultation. If they recommend crown replacement, then try again with your dentist for a full refund. You dentist is within their rights to verify this with the specialist.

If THAT fails, take your case to either peer review via the state dental association or the state board of dentistry. I do not recommend small claims court, but if you do, PM me for more information.

Thats great advice. I have never heard of a prosthodontist. ill look one up in my area. I had no idea where to go from here. thank you.
I dont want a big back and forth over money.. i just want my tooth fixed. but if a professional is saying that it needs to be replaced and why this may be an easy fix.. hopefully

ill ask for the refund after i get the opinion.. because i dont think they are just going to give me my money back because i request it

ill save this thread so i wont loos your contact, if it comes to that

I have an appt with a prosthodontist.. i kind of feel like hes not going to pass up the opportunity to make $$ and will tell me that i need it redone.. but well see how it goes.

I am considering just pulling it.. that seems like a one and done type of easy solution.. then I can eat again

You should demand the dentist for a full refund and then go to a specialist. You may have some odd issues with that area of your mouth.

Sounds like a crappy job. Refund indeed. You'll need to do it again, just pick your dentist carefully. One that uses a top quality lab. In the meantime, a water pick should help keep things clean. Get the full size one with the water tank. Use pure mouth wash (yes that is correct). If the tooth gets painful, get some chlorhexidine from a dentist and irrigate the area with that.
Keep it clean until it can be replaced.

So i saw the prostodontist this morning.. he was very nice and helpful. he said that the chip is not a chip or tooth but cement.
he also said that it needs to be redone and suggested that I go back to the first dentist for the redo. he said that these things happen.

Id love to just go to this new guy, but then I have to try and get my money back and the money back that the ins company pd.. that seems like not an easy task.. so at this point I need to decided if i go back or fight... i also hate the idea of having the awful tasting temp in my mouth for another 2 weeks!
