Am a 50-ish single woman looking to relocate to Littleton. Never been there so a few questions:

(1) Are there dangerous or iffy neighborhoods to avoid due to gangs, drugs, riff-raff, general unease and risk, etc.?

(2) Would I be nuts to move there in January? (Would prefer March when weather eases but may not have a choice.)

(3) Arriving with little $ so will need to land some survival job immediately (maybe house or hotel cleaning - yech). Will Littleton offer opportunities or where nearby's better?

Thank you and god bless.

Why Littleton? Nowhere to avoid there.

January can be cold, snowy, or neither. March is when we get blizzards.

Employment here is better than national average.

Littleton is a nice little suburb of the City of Denver. It's got lots of houses and some retail, but it's not a town that sits out in the middle of nowhere. So it's hard to understand why you are choosing Littleton over Denver, or the other nearby suburbs of Englewood, Sheridan, Centennial, etc. Littleton has only one hotel within the city limits, but there are more in Lone Tree and Highlands Ranch (both easy drives from Littleton). Once you arrive you will see that it is all just one big area globbed together, so you don't have to concentrate on just finding a job in "Littleton".

When we first started looking, it was rather confusing. Be aware that the City of Littleton is in Arapaho County, and it isn't very big. The suburbs west of the city have Littleton addresses, but are in unincorporated Jefferson County. East of the city is Centennial, which is an incorporated city, but has/had Littleton addresses and Littleton schools. Highlands Ranch is south of Littleton and is in Douglas County. The post office also considers these Littleton addresses. I think all these areas have different feels and different pros and cons.

Nah.

Nah. January weather is generally better than March weather. March is the snowiest month of the year, and April is the 3rd snowiest month of the year.

That's risky. Do you have a lot of experience in any type of job ? The good news is Littleton is in a major metropolitan area, so there are tons of companies to work for. The bad news is there is tons of competition. Be prepared to look for work throughout the metro area, and there is absolutely no guarantee that a job could be landed immediately. Is there any particular reason why you need to move, or do you just feel like it ? Would you be leaving a job in order to move ? Those are questions you should think about very carefully before making this risky move.

Hi David - Why Littleton? Suits me. Workwise, I'm open to a wide area of Denver.

Yes, the intent is to live in Littleton and find a job there or a location outside of town with a reasonable sane commute.

Hi - Thanks for the info. The intent is to live in Littleton and work in or around (i.e., greater Denver) with one stipulation: the commute must be sane and reasonable.

Suits you how?

Job wise, if I had to live in Littleton, I wouldn't go any further north than I-70, and would try to stay not too far east of I-25 if I could. Littleton isn't exactly the easiest place to commute from (much of it isn't convenient to freeways).

I am with you, David.

Gussie, what are you looking for in a job and a community. Except for downtown Littleton, you can replicate the suburbs just about anywhere, including 80% of Denver.
