There is no deal. The weather does whatever it wants to do.

I think you might be unaware of how humid the winters in the northeast actually are. I never realized it, but they're actually quite wet. I grew up in Jersey and went to school in New Hampshire, and although my skin gets very dry in winter there, it's nothing like in Denver. The dryness makes the cold temperatures milder - I was running around in 22-degree weather wearing just a sweater, and I was totally comfortable. And I HATE the cold - usually in Jersey I'd be running around in an ankle-length down coat, looking like the michelin man. So while I thought it was very comfortable, the added dryness played havoc with my skin. I literally had to dump copious amounts of bath oil (which I had never before used) into my tub when I got back to Jersey and just soak for an hour - my skin was in horrendous shape, and I was itching terribly. Now that I have moved here, I'm armed for my first winter with several extra large bottles of moisturizer.

yes, I spent five years in D.C. and I didn't like the grey, cold, clammy, humid winters.

I'm in Northern California now, where the winters are also clammy, but tolerable because it doesn't get as cold as back east.

Colorado is definitely very dry. Of all the states in the U.S. it's on the end of the dry spectrum, probably comparable to most of the southwest.

We get more than "some" warm days. It's fairly hot anywhere from late May to late September. It was 90 yesterday. I don't know what the official count this summer was on days over 90 degrees, but probably well over 30. Average highs get up to 89 in July. But it does cool down fairly well even on the hot days with lows in the low 60s.

We have air conditioners and outdoor pools here, and an actual Summer

Right, I was referring to winter. Random warm days in the winter.

I know you guys have nice summers and plenty of heat =)

Then Denver's winters will feel unexpectedly great to you then.

More temp swings in Denver then most of New England, it can be in the 70s, then may not even reach 33 F the next day, and that's possible in early May!

Been noticing on The Weather Channel that eastern Colorado typically snows later than most of New England.

Definitely agree about the unpredictable weather!

EEEKKK! And the snow's usually done by around March 20 in southern and central Vermont.

Except for 2007, where it snowed past April 10!

And on normal years, I'm actually more likely to install my window air conditioner on April 27 in Vermont.

LOL, it's not hot enough here to do that on April 27, it could freeze!
