My husband has accepted a new job out in the Denver area actually Westminster. We live in Ohio and will be moving soon. We are also a very conservative family and hope to move to a nice town w/ smaller schools. I've heard Castle Rock/Pines is a very nice area but wondered how long of a drive to Westminster it would be. Best of luck to you and your move!

Castle Pines and Westminster would definately not be an easy commute by any way, shape or form. Castle pines is on the outskirts of the south side of denver and westminster is on the north west side. It is like traveling across the universe..

That would be a pretty hellish commute, IMHO.

I commute between CR and DT Denver and thats a 30 miler each way ... and I live on the extreme N. side of CR. Its been worse lately, party due to daylight savings and party due to a land realignment S. of Lincoln which is causing a lot of jams recently.

If I leave early enough, I can make it in 35 min ... but sometimes it more like 55-60 min. And going home seems to be more in the 45-55 min range. And if an accident occurs along the way, add 25-35 minutes at least.

Anywhere from 40 minutes (no traffic) to 1:15 with traffic.

What does conservative family mean?

The fact that they were in Vegas caught my attention, then I noticed the date. I looked at their post history and they were able to escape Vegas. This was posted on 12/06: Just curious ~ as my family and I are from San Diego and lived in Descanso, not far from Alpine. We just moved to Castle Rock about 2 months ago. So far we really like it here. I love the schools for my children.

I'm truly happy for them because I feel that same pain raising my son in Vegas. If all goes well for me and him we will be in Colorado March 1st. He will not start high school here.

You will probably not find smaller schools here unless you go with private, or some charters. Schools are big here, as a rule. (There are some exceptions of course.) It would be a long drive every day from Castle Rock to Westminster, not worth it IMO. You can find nice housing in Westminster and nearby.

Castle Rock isn't just on the other side of town. It's on the other side of a GIANT metro area!!! You might like towns that are closer to you. Heck, Boulder is closer to you than Castle Rock!

Maybe even try Westminster, it's not too shabby!
