I'll be in Denver this wknd, and on Fri, I have the day free while I wait for my sister to get off of work. We will be going to Dillon for the wknd, so I don't need to do the "mountain thing" on Fri, but I was wondering what you all would recommend to kill some time on Fri (outside of shopping). Thanks!

Ok, we know that you don't want to go shopping. But it's a little hard to recommend things to do,without knowing the things you DO like to do. Breweries? Museums? Hiking?

BTW, there are already at least two recent threads on this same subject. Please do a forum search and read up on the suggestions.

Something outdoors and close would be nice. As for the other thread re: 3 day itinerary - I am by myself, and don't want to be dining/visiting breweries etc by myself, nor do I want to do a big mountain trip. I only have the day on Fri.

And the other thread about things to do in Denver, incl things that happen only on particular days (like the Market, for ex). I DID look at the other threads first and didn't find anything useful, which is why I posted this. Thanks!

Denver foothills actually gives you a lot more than anything far in the mountains can give, because we have all these great canyons with roaring rivers. Its more in your face steep walls of rock. You wont find any type of social pleasures in the front range, but for meditation and connecting with nature You will not regret a trip to Golden canon, eldorado canyon, or boulder hiking, or red rocks park.

Forget about Denver. Denver is just our typical American city, but isolated physically and culturally. Unless you hav never seen a hipster Denver offers noning unique.

Well my parents havent been out here but when they come i think theyd get the biggest bang for buck in. Day seeing red rocks park, then driving through golden snd seeing the golden canyon, then especially seeing eldorado canyon, and then topping the night with an evening hike in boulder, walking the strip, and having a nice dinner in boulder on the strip.

Denver is very blah... The foothills cities are unique though...Denver is just your typical big city, think Atlanta circa 1983

Jeffblond piles on Denver every chance he gets. Don't believe a word he says about the city. I don't think he was alive in 1983, let alone checking out what ATL had to offer. Feel free to correct me Jeff.

I agree with going to Garden of The Gods. Pretty spectacular.
