I read somewhere if you are shopping for a home in Denver, be ready to tour the home at 8 and put an offer on the table by 8:30. I can't stress enough that this was very much the case. Luckily for us we were able to get the house we wanted.
That was pretty much our experience as sellers here in San Diego last month (we're closing this week). House went on market on a Thursday, 2 same-day offers, open house all weekend, and by Monday we had 16 offers. I guess the market is hot in a lot of places, or at least in Denver as well as here. (Maybe not so much in Detroit. ) Thanks for the heads-up.

I am hoping our house out here will be the same way. It goes on the market the weekend after Easter.

Well a quick update, our current Southern California home is currently in escrow. But the big news is our Centennial house just closed. We will be moving out in June as soon as my son gets out of school. We drive out on Fathers day and I couldn't ask for anything better.

Congrats! How fast did your house sell, and what part of SoCal is it in? Just curious for anecdotal info about the state of the SoCal real estate market, whether it's hot everywhere or just in certain areas/neighborhoods.

Our home sale closed, and we've been renting back while we pack up the house. Movers come on Saturday, and then we're on our way! Easing our way in with an AirBnB short-term rental for the month of June while we house-hunt in Denver.

We are just outside of Pasadena. It went on the market on May 1st. The first showing was on May 2nd. On May 4th we had an open house. But when the realtor showed up for the open house, he handed me the offer from the first people that saw the house on May 2nd. They put in an offer for more than asking price with 50% down. Kind of hard to refuse that.

We have a rent back too which works out great. They, like us are just waiting for their kids to finish up the school year. PODS come next week and we will pack up. We are going to do a little road trip on our way out there. Maybe visit some of the sights in Utah, then I was told I should probably spend a day in Glenwood Springs since I am driving through it.

On that note, does anybody recommend any cool places to check out on the way from Los Angeles to Denver with two kids in the car? We will be taking the 15 to the 70.

Arches in Moab, UT. Colorado National Monument in Grand Junction.

Lucky... I really want to do some sightseeing along the way, but we will have a cat onboard, so are going to have to do the drive as quickly as possible.

Hehe. the 15 to the 70. That's very Californian.

+1 for Moab, UT -- Arches National Park and maybe Canyonlands as well. Moab is a neat little town. Was just there this past weekend. It's not too far off of I-70.

Lol, I was already told I need to stop saying "the" before hand. I'm working on it...I swear!

We were thinking Moab. Thanks for the recommendations!

Stricklandia, we are driving out, but my mom wants to see the new place so she is taking the cat with her on the plane. We figured it would be easier on the cat and on us...maybe not my mom though.
